Itinerary One city, two continents Constantinople, Byzantium, Istanbul – mighty names for one and the same city. Istanbul is the only city in the world which spans across two continents and it’s lively and contrast rich atmosphere captivates countless visitors each year. The symbiosis between east and west gives Istanbul its unique character. Immerse yourself in the history of this incredible metropolis in the company of your professional guide. From its founding to its current state, and take time in the evenings to enjoy the cultural flair and indulge in the delicacies of the local cuisine in a recommended restaurant. 1st Day – Arrival to Istanbul After arriving to Istanbul Airport a transfer will bring you to the hotel. Peering out of the car window, you will gain your first impressions of this exciting city. Check into your Hotel – your home for the next 3 days. 2nd Day – Byzantine and Ottoman Istanbul Today will be filled with visitations of architectural masterpieces of the Byzantine era in the old town of Istanbul: Visit the Hagia Sophia in the morning – the crowning church of the Byzantine emperor. Another unforgettable visitation is that of the Topkapi Palace, the former residence and governing seat of Sultans in the Ottoman Empire as well as the Sultan-Ahmet-Mosque (‘Blue Mosque’). In the afternoon, visit the Hippodrom – the athletic and social center of the Byzantine Empire – as well as the Hippodrome Exhibition in the Basilica water cistern. 3rd Day – Modern Day Istanbul After breakfast a boat tour on the Bosporus will give you a perspective of the city from the water. Under the two giant hanging bridges, past countless palaces, summer villas, wooden huts as well as the fortress of Rumeli Hisari and back to the Golden Horn. Later on you will visit the Galata Tower on the northern shore of the golden Horn. After a break for lunch, it is time for a stroll through the Beyoglu suburb, the center of Western culture in Istanbul. 4th Day – Departure After breakfast, check out of your hotel and enjoy the last impressions of the city as your transfer takes you to the Airport. This voucher can be used to check into your hotel. On the second day your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at 09:30 am. Your guide will accompany you on all the activities mentioned in the tour program on the second and third days and will organize the payments of the Bosporus boat ride and the entrances to the sights.
