Itinerary

  • Bodrum - Fetiye
  • Fethiye - Bodrum
1st Day
Bodrum (Embarkation)
Individual arrival to Bodrum harbour. A collective transfer from Bodrum Airport to the harbour is available for an extra cost on request. Check in begins on the Gullet at 2 pm. Use the evening hours to enjoy the lively atmosphere in the city of Bodrum and relax with a typical Turkish tea. In the evening, a shared dinner on board can be enjoyed in the company of your travel companions and tour guides.
2nd Day Bodrum – Körmen – Knidos
(aprx. 42 km/26 mi)
In the early morning, we leave for our first sailing trip of the week which brings us from Bodrum to Körmen. Once we arrive, we hop on our bikes for our first cycling tour, along the Datça peninsula. The first ascent takes us to a height of 450m before we head back down to the sea. On a clear day it is possible to see the Greek islands Nisyros, Tilos and Rhodes. A scenic road leads first along the coast and then through more rural areas, before taking us to Knidos. After visiting the impressive archaeological site, we stay in one of the most picturesque bays on the Turkish coast.
3rd Day Knidos – Serçe Limanı – Çiftlik
(aprx. 49 km/30 mi)
In the morning we have plenty of time to relax on our way to a small bay at the peak of the Bozburun Peninsula. A secluded mountain road takes us to a mountain village located at 300m above sea level, home to a 1,500-year-old plane tree and a lively bazar that is well worth a visit. A short walk around the plane tree is said to ensure a long and lucky life. After lunch we continue to the bay of Çiftlik by bike where there is enough time to enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea.
4th Day Çiftlik – Ekincik – Kaunos
(aprx. 31 km/19 mi)
During breakfast we cross over to the little harbour of Ekincik, the starting point of today’s bike ride. After crossing the pass with its spectacular views, we reach the shore of Lake Köycegiz, where we have the opportunity to enjoy a healing mud bath close to Sultaniye. After cycling through another small pass, we reach the mouth of the Dalyan River. From here we hop on a small boat for a 30 minute cruise past the impressive Lycian rock-cut tombs overlooking the Dalyan delta to our boat which waits on anchor near a small rocky island.
5th Day Kaunos – Dalaman – Sarsala Bay
(aprx. 42 km/26 mi)
After breakfast the boat brings us close to the ancient city of Kaunos, the first destination of today’s bike tour. Once directly on the seaside and an important port town, the harbour now lies 8km from the coast. Only the ruins are silent witnesses of the former wealth of the city. After visiting the site, we continue on by bike. We cross the fertile Dalaman plains with their cotton fields and orchards and take a well-deserved break in a tea house in Dalaman. After crossing a small pass, we reach the beautiful bay of Sarsala, where we can already spot the ship from afar.
6th Day Gemiler Bay – Fethiye
(aprx. 33 km/21 mi)
After breakfast the boat sails past numerous small islands before reaching Gemiler. Also known as the island of St. Nicolas, a church was built here for the saint in the 5th century. Back on the mainland our bike ride takes us through a pine forest to the 1922 abandoned Greek city of Kayaköy, once home to 6,500 people. From here we continue our bike ride to Fethiye where we have the chance to extend our tour by a few kilometres: a small peninsula nearby tempts with its quiet bays and beautiful beaches, perfect for a picturesque swim stop. In the evening we can spend the time exploring the city of Fethiye with its local bazar. The old town, marked by the Eski Cami Mosque is also worth a visit, with its narrow, winding alleyways and the typical corner houses.
7th Day
Fethiye – Saklikent Canyon – Göcek
(aprx. 27 km/17 mi)
A bus transfers (60 min) takes us to Cavdir, the starting point of today’s cycling tour. From here we bike to the Saklikent Canyon, where we can enjoy lunch on the riverbank. In Turkish “Saklikent” means “Hidden City”. The canyon is spectacular and can easily be explored on foot. Afterwards we continue our cycling tour to Kadiköy. From here a short transfer takes us to the ancient town of Tlos which was once one of the largest towns in Lycia. After our visit a transfer takes us to Fethiye.
8th Day Fethiye (Disembakation)
After breakfast check-out. On request collective transfer to the airport and individual return home or extended stay in Turkey.
1st Day
Fethiye (Embarkation)
Individual arrival by plane to Dalaman Airport and transfer to Fethiye. Check-in on board starts at 2 pm. Take the afternoon to stroll through the famous harbour town with its local bazar. The old town, marked by the Eski Cami Mosque is also worth a visit, with its narrow, winding alleyways and the typical corner houses. The week begins with dinner on board.

From here, a short transfer takes us to the ancient town of Tlos which was once one of the largest towns in Lycia. After visiting the historic site the shuttle bus takes us to Gemiler Bay, where we board the boat off the coast of Gemiler Island – also known as St. Nikolaus Island due to the church constructed here in his name in the 5th Centuary.
3rd Day Gemiler Bay – Fethiye – Sarsala Bay
(aprx. 33 km/21 mi.)
In the morning we cycle through a pine forest to the 1922 abandoned Greek city of Kayaköy, once home to 6,500 people. From here we continue our bike ride to Fethiye where we have the chance to extend our tour by a few kilometres: a small peninsula nearby tempts with its quiet bays and beautiful beaches, perfect for a picturesque swim stop. Alternatively we can spend the time exploring the city of Fethiye or to enjoy a coffee. Back on board, the boat takes us to Sarsala Bay where we spend a peaceful night on anchor.
4th Day Sarsala Bay – Dalaman – Dalyan
(aprx. 42 km/26 mi.)
After breakfast we cross the fertile Dalaman plains with its cotton fields and orchards before taking a well-deserved break in a tea house in Dalaman. We then cycle on through a small pass to the estuarial area of the Dalyan delta, where we have lunch in a charming restaurant. From here it’s only a few more kilometres to Dalyan. A small boat takes us passed the impressive rock-cut tombs and the Dalyan delta to our ship, which waits on anchor near a small rocky island.
5th Day Kaunos – Ekincik – Ciftlik Bay
(aprx. 31 km/19 mi.)

After visiting the site, we continue on by bike to the shores of Lake Köycegiz, where we have the opportunity to enjoy a healing mud bath close to Sultaniye. After crossing another small pass with fantastic views we finally reach the tiny fishermen’s village of Ekincik, where we board the boat and spend the night in the bay of Ciftlik.
6th Day Çiftlik – Serçe Limanı – Datça
(aprx. 45 km/28 mi.)
A secluded mountain road takes us to a mountain village located at 300m above sea level, home to a 1,500-year-old plane tree and a lively bazar that is well worth a visit. A short walk around the plane tree is said to ensure a long and lucky life. After lunch we continue to a small bay at the peak of the Bozburun Peninsula. From there we cross over to Datca, the capital of the peninsula of the same name. The evening can be spent wandering through the lively harbour town.
7th Day
Datça – Knidos
(aprx. 49 km/30 mi.)
Today’s bike tour leads us along the Datça peninsula. The first ascent takes us to a height of 450m before we head back down to the sea. On a clear day it is possible to see the Greek islands Nissyros, Tilos and Rhodes. A scenic road leads first along the coast and then through more rural areas, before taking us to Knidos. Arrival - How to get there

Ports of embarkation

This trip takes place alternately from Bodrum to Fethiye and from Fethiye to Bodrum. The port of embarkation of Bodrum is most easily reached by flying to Bodrum Airport (BJV). The embarkation port of Fethiye can easily be reached by plane via Dalaman Airport (DLM).

We recommend booking a transfer with us to save you a lengthy search for your island hopping ship.

Berth (Bodrum Harbour)

Should you wish to make your own way to the boat, you will find the Boreas and Admiral in the big yacht harbour (when looking out to sea, on the right-hand side of the fortress of St. Peter). Most commonly they will be moored next to the Datca Ferry dock. The specific mooring of the ships will only be decided the evening before the trip.

Additional nights in Bodrum

We are happy to arrange additional nights with breakfast in Bodrum, the starting point of your trip. Bodrum, the ancient Halicarnassus, is one of the liveliest coastal towns in Turkey. It owes its importance above all to its coastal location and its beautiful seafront promenade which comes to life in the evening with street artists, restaurants, bars, and a beautiful view over the sea. There are also many cultural sights and great beaches.

Extension program in Istanbul

With so much to see in Istanbul, you surely want to see it all! If so, we recommend our 3-day additional program in the metropolis on the Bosporus for a truly incredible holiday experience.  Istanbul is the only city in the world that bridges two continents. Important information

Spoken language

Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

Itinerary changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organizational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be run in reverse order. Our tours are dependent on weather conditions and the final decision is that of the captain. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.

Requirements

Requirements for e-bikers (level 1):

E-bike tours suitable for Islandhoppers with a good basic level of fitness. The tours and the elevation meters are very manageable with an e-bike (20-40 km and 200 - 700 elevation meters per day). The roads are mostly asphalted. Your tour guide will inform you each day about the tour details. This tour is primarily a guided group tour however, upon consultation with your tour guides, it may be possible to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.

Guided group pace

On our e-bike tour programs, the riding pace is determined by the cyclists on e-bikes. Guests who are taking part on these tours on a gravel bike should have the necessary physical condition to keep up with this pace. We thank you for your understanding.

Requirement to wear a helmet

Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).

Bringing children

We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental e-bike is 1.50 m (5 ft.).

For the best tour experience with children, we recommend our Multi-Adventure Cruises in Croatia or Greece. We are convinced that these itineraries provide the best all-round experience for each individual family member.

Bringing private bikes & exclusion of private e-bikes

The tour which you have booked requires an e-bike in top technical condition. Islandhopping can offer you high quality, fully serviced rental bikes perfect for the terrain of this tour.

We do not allow you to bring your own e-bike due to the safety regulations on ship as well as ensuring the safety of our employees. If you would like to ride an e-bike, please rent one from our inventory.

We do not advise bringing your own tour or hybrid bike, as the guided group pace is oriented towards the e-bike riders. If you want to ride your own bike on the trip, we recommend bringing a sporty gravel bike that meets the technical requirements to keep pace with the higher speed of the e-bikes. Furthermore, you should ensure you have the required level of physical fitness. Before traveling, please check the condition of brakes, gears and tires as well bringing repair kits and essential spare parts (e.g. inner tube). Your bike must be in top technical condition. Please keep in mind that transporting your own bicycle will result in relatively high additional costs (particularly when flying) and the risk of transport damages is high.

Disclaimer: Radurlaub Zeitreisen GmbH will not be held liable for any damages caused to private bikes during loading, unloading or other logistical handling thereof.

Noise on board

Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Internet availability

Our Turkish boats do not offer a WiFi connection. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend bringing your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.

Travel recommendation for groups with varying biking interests (MTB & hybrid cycling)
